U's Chief Executive Marie Partner has spoken of her delight at the club's debut on the international scene on Tuesday night.

Just short of 10,000 supporters descended on north Colchester to watch England U19s take on Germany U19s and they went away happy as Henri Lansbury's goal was enough to give the 'home' team victory.

"We were really, really pleased with how smoothly the evening went on Tuesday," Marie told CU-FC.com.

"It was great to see so many excited young faces coming along to the stadium for the first time and enjoying their experience at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

"The people at the FA were more than happy with how the day unfolded and they suggested to us that there is a good chance that we will be hosting further fixtures of this nature in the future."

The game saw the matchday travel plan work a treat, although traffic congestion did cause a small number of issues on the night.

"We were very happy with the way that the travel plan with all of the coaches parking at the ground and the shuttle bus service worked," Marie added.

"We are aware that there was a certain amount of congestion and we will be talking to Essex County Highways about how to improve people's journey to the stadium, but overall the night was a very successful one for Colchester United and the town of Colchester."
